So. Here is my problem once again. As always. My scanner is down and my mom has the digital camera. So I took a pic with my phone and emailed it to myself to post.
Sorry it looks crappy. :/
Anyway, my idea was to have the earth in a round float. And its in a puddle of water and the ends of the water is going to read something along the lines of "Time is Running out" or "Save our only home."
I'm also going to draw it myself by hand and paint it with acrylic. The water writing is going to be with real water and I will photoshop it in.
I thought of a few more ideas for a poster, such as a paw print of a polar bear that says "where will all the polar bears live?" Or maybe draw something like a polar bear packing its bags to leave or something. Its gona be kind of tought to do those so if I dont think of a better concept for them then this earth idea will stay.
Thanks.

DVD insert for Psych.

this is the inside slip of the DVD for the Psych TV show. The front, back, and the 2 main characters I'll post on here later. Since this is a detective show my plan was to show them as suspects in this DVD insert even though they are he good people. I used some of the features of "suspect information" to write about them. I still think something is missing but I cant place my finger on it. I tried not to use mug shot looking images since I don't want people to get the wrong impression about it since they really are the good guys. I may need to make some funnies since the show is part comedy. I'm currently working on the CD labels. I will post them up on here this weekend as well. Any feedback is appreciated!
Thanks! :]]

Stefan Bucher
When Joe sent us the email about this lecture, I was hesitant to go because it was in CSULA and I had a very important rehearsal that evening that I couldn't miss. We had a competition the following week, and that day's rehearsal was canceled for everyone else except for the 8 of us. I was able to get myself out of it and they were upset with me, but in all honesty, it was definitely worth it!!! Plus, we won first place in the competition so I don't feel so bad about it anymore.
I was so inspired when I heard Stefan Bucher's lecture, and I couldn't wait to get out of there and tell my boyfriend about it. I know if he was there he would also appreciate it very much. I felt so empowered when he was sharing stories of his childhood and how he used to redesign ads and go back to the merchants and have them buy it. My favorite part was when he talked about following your heart and not worrying about the money, but worrying more about how you want your artwork to look.
The daily monsters that he draws are exceptional! Who would think that you can come up with hundreds and thousands of monsters just by blowing air on a blob of ink on a paper. He would! I am so honored to have a poster autographed by him on my wall. Everytime I look at it I notice a different creature on it that I hadn't before. My boyfriend is so inspired by it that he wants him to do his upcoming album cover. Boo for me! lol
"Be the youest you you can be without being ashamed."
- Stefan Bucher
PS. Here is the competition video if you want to see. :]

Get Psyched!!!!!!
So, I would love to have a special edition for the tv series called Psych! I absolutely love that show and I cant get enough of it. The thing is that only the first 2 seasons are on DVD, so I would probably need to make up the 3rd one? Just wondering.
Yay for the the funny "psychic" detective from Santa Barbara! lol <3 For those of you who don't know. Psych is a tv show that is a tasteful mix between comedy and mystery. Shawn Spencer who has amazing detective skills thanks his father who is an ex-cop, and his friend Gus who is like a walking encyclopedia. So, Shawn doesnt want to follow his fathers footsteps to become a cop, but some how finds himself finding out information to help out with a crime. One time he shared too much information and became suspicious but luckily made them believe that he was a psychic. So Shawn and Gus temporarily get hired by the SBPD to solve some crimes. He uses his "psychic powers" to help solve cases, where in fact he is actually gathering information with his detective skills. he show doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is, but what it is, is a sharp, witty, snappily-paced crime mystery show.

ad ideas
My partner, Helen and I stumbled upon many ideas for our magazine ad series and narrowed it down to 2 final ideas that we cant choose only 1 from. Perhaps you guys can help us make that decision. So her idea will be posted on her blog. It's about a teeth whitening toothpaste. Here is the link to her blog. Helen
Ok so for my idea, I had a few but I think one of the better ones was an ad for a Nikon digital slr camera. I haven't chosen which model yet.
A brief history about Nikon:
Nikon is a multinational corporation. It was founded in 1917 as Nippon Kogaku Kogyo and renamed Nikon Corporation, after its cameras, in 1988. Nikon is one of the major companies of the Mitsubishi Group. Its products include cameras, binoculars, microscopes, and measurement instruments.
Target audience:
Basically anyone who is interested in photography. Such as, photographers, journalists, graphic designers, also non-professional people who like to take great quality photographs as a hobby or for the family album. I would say around the ages of 18-45
Competition:
Nikon's main competitors include Canon, Casio, Kodak, Sony, Pentax, Panasonic, Fujifilm and Olympus. Currently, Nikon's only competitor in high-end camera systems is Canon.
Strategy:
For my main idea, which will have 3 series, I've decided that I want to show the image in the digital camera window look way better than the actual scenery its taking a photograph of. For example, there is the image on the page of a house that is old, beaten up, the grass is brown and broken window and stuff, and when you see the image in the camera, it looks like a brand new house with green grass and fixed window. And then there is the tag line that will read something along the lines of "Capture the true beauty."
Visual Style:
I wanted to use mainly their signature yellow and black and also a little bit white negative space area. I wanted to for sure use the camera in there as well as a clever caption or tag line that will go with the images.

Negative Space Gallery
On Friday, October 10, it was the opening of day the Negative Space Gallery. It featured work of my classmates and other graphic deign students. I must say that I was so proud to see the work of my classmates in the gallery. There was exceptional work featured that were assigned by the professors. Everything was so creative and unique. I would have loved to have my work there as well. Maybe next time I'll turn something in. :D
The food was great as well. That was a very tasty humus so Id like the thank Silva for that. And also the entire event along with the Saga members who helped out. Oh and Professor Magdy for the lamp! :D
I had a great time going there with my friends, Leah and Kevin. It felt like a real museum experience!

Websites!
Good.
http://www.tijuanaflats.com/index.php
This is a site for a food venue in mostly Florida.
I really love the colors they have used to create this website, which I'm asuming are the brand colors. I enjoy being on this site become its interactive and keeps me entertained even though its not local. It has music and videos. Everything is easy to locate and quick to find!!
http://christinaaguilera.com/
Christina Aguilera's official site is pretty awesome to me. It is mostly flash and it is very entertaining. Its pretty much showing that its her dressing room and most of the item there are interactive and they connect to another room to show information. For example, the calendar shows her tour appearances, the mirror gives her bio. I'm sort of working with other artists now to create the website for my boyfriend's band, Full Force Rising, and the concept were going with is similar to this.
http://ursession.com/
This is a very good site and I think its designed perfectly for musicians and bands to promote their stuff. Its sort of like myspace except its only for music. You have your songs up and other artists and also non-artists are able to log in and vote for the band, if they like the music. After getting so many votes, the artists will be recognized by record companies and receive a gold, platinum, multi platinum or diamond record deal. Its very simple to use and helpful!
Bad.
http://www.kingculturalproduction.com/
This site comes pretty handy for me sometimes. Most of my shows (such as the Armenian Golden Star Awards - which I will be performing at.) are advertised and promoted through this site. I think it is very difficult to go through it and find what you are looking for at ease. The colors are not the best and the information is scattered. Some links are "unclickable" and it gets pretty confusing.
http://www.continentalart.com/
I really wish this site would be more detailed and a bit more updated. Every time I go on there I never get what I want, such as products. It has the basic information of time and dates that its open and the address, but they should make it easier for people. If they are not going show any of their merchandise, they should get rid of the product link, so people wont be disappointed.

Eureka!!
I think I may have made it work!
My logo that is.. It took me a long time, but I think its actually done! Phewf! :D
I dono why but it was the toughest thing for me to make that crown fit in with the M so that the letter shows more and the crown is secondary.
Any feedback is appreciated!
Thankies :]]

Posters
I picked the ones that show the artsy side of Denmark. I wanted to grab th attention of people who would enjoy Denmark's museums, ballets, and operas. I wanted to keep it very simple but I made it colorful so it catches attention. I'm still working on my logos. I need to change the font because theres no way I can make the M work.

poster series!
Its always a battle between me and my scanner! Today I won! :]]
Here are my sketches for the 3 series posters for the country branding.

In the first set, I wanted to use some famous landmarks and tourist areas. I'm not too fond of that idea for the poster set. Unless I incorporate some interesting artwork to it, which I havent tought of anything yet.
The 2nd set i favor more than the 1st. I wanted to use some quotes to show the past present and future of the country. I wasnt sure what exact images to use for them, but its pretty much going to be one simple image that represents each poster.
In the 3rd set, I wanted to show the artsy side of Denmark. They love all kinds of art in the culture. They enjoy it very much and think very highly of it! So I used a heart to show their love for it. also, it didnt scan, but the logo would be all the way in the bottom for all 3.
I'm kind of stuck between the last 2. Leaning more towards #3.. but we'll see where it goes digitally!
Any ideas?
Thanks!!! :]]

My new logos
Yeah, so I went in a complete different direction for my logos. I wanted to simplify it and still use the crown idea to show royalty.
So here it is, let me know what you think!

Sketches
Ya.. so the whole peace thing with technology... not working too well! But.. I used my digital camera to post up some work in progress! :D YAY for some technology? I guess? Sorry for the horrible quality on these.. ://
Anyway.. here you go. Theyre kind of scattered and since I just decided on the cities yesterday I didnt come up with great concepts. So anyway.. here they are.
The first ones I wanted to play with some of the things that each city is famous for kind of thing. So for Denmark I drew like a ship. Copenhagen, I put the little mermaid icon. For Aahrus, I wanted to use the sky scapes, and for Odense, I used the famous castle called Egsave.
For the 2nd set, I wnated to use royal icons, not too obvious, and needs lots more work.
My last idea was to make it more playful and fun, to use different colors, and I want to incorporate the 3 shapes, circle, square, and triangle, into the logos. Also I want them to look handwritten and a little bit of messy.
Also, I want to use the country's flower, daisy, and the flag somehow.
That's about it for now.. :]]

Gahh!
I cant seem to find peace with technology today. Apparently, a usb cord would have done the trick. but.. idk where it is.. but i've finally picked the 3 cities I would like to use, and did more research about the country I'm going to be branding. I'll scan the sketches tomorrow, somehow! lol
Soo.. I've piked the 3 largest cities in Denmark.
The largest one, Copenhagen, is the capital of the country. I chose this because it is a very popular touring area. They have gorgeous palaces and museums for visitors to enjoy.
The second largest city is called Aarhus, and it has many landmarks that represent the city. Tivoli is one of the most famous and popular amusement parks in Europe. Domkirke is the tallest cathedral in Denmark.
The 3rd largest city in Denmark is called Odense and it is the oldest city. It celebrated its 1000th anniversary in 1988. [wowa!] This city is known for its historical and cultural architectures.
If in my other blog entry it wasn't clear, my 3 words are, simple, proud, and nirvana. Now, I know nirvana isn't an adjective, but I think it does a great job "describing" the happiest country in the world! I can't wait to go visit Denmark and swim in their beaches and drink from the ice bars, go on the canal tours and take pictures of the castles and palaces, and go see all the museums and eat at the restaurants!!! How exciting. lol [ya.. i'm a total nerd sometimes!] :D YAY!

Where would YOU like to go?
What a hard question to answer! I am in love with traveling even though I haven't had the chance to do too much of it due to money and family issues. I would eventually want to visit all the countries in the world before I die or at least most of them. Maybe even live in a few for a couple of years or so? One of the many places Id like to visit is in Northern Europe. Its supposed to be the happiest place in the world. And no, its not Disneyland! It's around Germany, Sweden and Norway, all counties I would most definitely want to visit and spend a large amount of time in. This place is called Denmark! I want to go see what all the happiness is all about! Danes seem to be simple and proud individuals who possess nirvana! I think with all those things, it is possible to be the happiest country in the world! They get satisfaction in the smallest forms, they have low expectations, and when you have that.. you can never be disappointed!

The good and the bad
THE GOOD

-The CD cover for Tool's latest album is very original. It has a pair of 3D glasses and a booklet of many 3D imagery inside the covers. You can use the glasses to view the images without losing either since they are a part of the covers.
-I really like this design for the Jack Daniel's bottle. Even when I was younger and couldnt drink I enjoyed looking at it. I think it's a very successful design because its just 2 colors. and Even though its a bit crowded, it still works.
- Herbal Essences has redesigned the its bottles. I think its very successful and hip. They have strong and vibrant colors and a unusual shape. [not unusual in a weird kind of way, but like in a way that bottles usually don't shape that way. lol]
THE BAD

-This is package does not appeal to me in any way. The type on it that goes over the image bothers me like no other. Its too simple and it doesn't work.
-Vitamin water bottles bother me. It kind of looks like medicine even though it tastes nothing like it. I like the random information that it provides, but the design itself isn't successful if you asked me.
-I don't really know what this is for. It says hair powder on it but its not something that catches my eye. It seems old fashioned and pale. Sometimes its good to have that look, but it doesn't work for me in this way.
How did this happen?
So, I was in 10th grade.. art class, waiting for lunch time so I could go and hang out with my friends. You know, that was like the coolest thing in the world.. EVER! I was waiting. Waiting impatiently to be outside of that classroom, and on the 3 step entrance of another bungalow classroom, [that's where we hung out] laughing and eating with my friends. Waiting..!
Then they came in a group of 4, with a laptop, projector and some printed samples. The teacher had warned us about "them.." the ones that would distract us from our classwork.. and put us out of our misery..? the people that would somehow make the time go by faster. The recruiters from a graphic design company. They gave us a lecture about the industry and showed us some samples. And somehow I was in love! My eyes lit up bright and that's when I knew! Those were the skills and the career I wanted in my future.
And then, it was lunchtime, the more important things were out there waiting for little ol' me! [sense the sarcasm?] Two years later I graduated. The confusion began.. Journalism, psychology, creative writing, even philosophy? What was I thinking? I must have slipped under a rock. Until 2 years ago, that's when it happened. Transferring to CSUN was my wake up call! YAY! Now, this is my senior year, and I find myself more in love with this subject than ever imaginable. I find my inspiration from everything around me. But I think I owe it to those recruiters that made me fall in love with it in the first place.
I always knew I liked to make art, [dance, painting and drawing, and poetry] somehow I let small minor details get in my way. But now, I embrace it, and its my new "important" thing in my life! And, I'm the happiest I've been! :]]
