People are so generous and enthused to provide and share valuable information that interests them that can be beneficial to others! One can learn a lot from blogs and youtube videos over attending class even. Not to be discouraging! I hope one day I will be very knowledgeable in a task and become so good with blogging that I get many followers!!*Fingers crossed* lol
With that said, I have been following Logo Design Love blog for almost 4 years now. I found them in my very last year of graphic design class. The blog always has interesting logos from around the world and shares the history sometimes!
One of the entries that stood out to me was this post about Comic Sans! It is My favorite taboo font. It just reminds me of my childhood and how far I've come in life and the things I've learned!
So this guy, Oleg Tarasov, recreates famous logos using the font Comic Sans!
See for yourself.. [link below]

What other logos can you think of that can be recreated with Comic Sans?

Happy New Yea! (r)
Here's my Happy New Year shotout to all my followers which I don't
think is any but me. If really anyone does read this blog, comment just
so I know and seriously keep writing more blogs about things I love! I
wish I could have one for everything but I'll keep it minimal to graphic
design and knitting. I MAY pick up cooking as well, but for now it
looks like TOO much work.
About my graphic design, I've been thinking about ways to improve my portfolio and I realized that there is something I can do to increase the amount of work I have in my portfolio. Now that the holidays are over I will have more time to do more projects and fix the glitches on old ones.
I will be sharing the work on here for more feedback.
As far as my knitting goes, I will be taking on more projects now that the whole winter wonderland christmas and new years are in the past. It was seriously a really fun holiday season! Z and I had a great time spending time with each other, our families and of course friends! What a fun December it was with birthdays and wedding filled from head to toe. Speaking of "toe," I never finished our christmas stockings or crochet snowflake. Honestly, it was going to bring lots of stress into my days so I had to let them to the side until all the madness ended. Also, I feel more productive in front of the computer than behind the knitting needles nowadays. It just is what it is. With that said, I think I will be able to post more things onto the blog due to more time and relaxation.
Another exciting thing that happened since that last time I blogged is that I got a new camera!!! Z got it for me for Christmas!
A Nikon V1.. It's a cross between a Digital SLR and a point and shoot camera! I've already taken a few great shots with it! I should put those up on flickr and share them. I love it!
There you go! I took the first step and made a "promise" so to speak and made a comitment to contiue with posting new things!

The change is a coming.
It feels like its been a lifetime since I've updated on this thing.
I have recently started blogging about knitting, traveling and food.
What else is new? Let's see.. I got married in April 2012! That's a big change that's happened since I graduated from CSUN in 2009. YAY!
Career-wise, unfortunately, I fell behind after the closing of the company I was working for in 2010. I got a job at the bank that I've come to hate. After working there for 2 years, I need to get back into design! Dah! Seriously! My husband made me realize one crucial fact, which is something I knew in the back of my head but had become comfortable in my current job. I paid to go to school for something that I LOVE and now I'm working somewhere that I HATE. Strong words, I know.. but how does that make sense? The obvious answer is that I have to make a change!
So, this will be my first blog about what's going on in my graphic design career. :]
This week, I've reached out to a few designers and people in the industry to look over my portfolio and resume. Everyone is very nice and helpful about it. But before I show them any of my work to anyone I have to make it look presentable. I'm changing my branding and style to bring out my personality and character. I will update it on here. Comments and input is appreciated!
I will also post some things about what I'm reading whether it's a book, another blog, or something random I have seen somewhere.
I cannot wait! :]

why not papyrus?
The first thing I learned in my first Graphic Design class was to never ever ever use the font papyrus, which ironically was the font I used for my first project. :$ *sigh* So, I have avoided that font since that day and noticed how it has been mis/overused. It is in my list along with curls, hobo, and comic sans. So I decided to do some internet research to see what other fonts are considered taboo in the graphic design world and the reasons why.
What are your pet peeve fonts?

I could use a nice spa treatment right about now!
Close your eyes, (not right now if you want to read the rest,) and imagine being in a spacious spa that has a bamboo plant in the corner of the room. Framed photographs of waterfalls and the beach take up some of the walls. You are wearing a white towel with nothing underneath. The smell of the massage oils fill the room as the soft massage music helps create total relaxation. There is a suddle waterfall sound in the background as you lay on the massage bed with your face resting on the hole they have thought so generously to create for comfort. A woman with soft and oily hands slowly rubs all your pains away, from your head to the tip of your toes. After you inhale the positive vibes, you exhale all your negative thoughts along with any aches you may have. You wake up feeling like a new person. (OK now you can open your eyes, i hope they werent really closed tho.) LOL
Who wouldn't love that? I'm not sure. This is what I was daydreaming about while working on this business card + postcard.
Any feedback is appreciated! :]]

World Builder
I saw this video almost exactly a year ago. A classmate of mine showed it to me in my motion graphics class. It is an absolute breath of fresh air. The fact that someone can create something so magical fills me with inspiration and hope. It amazes me how some people can create such amazing art. Absolutely genius! I hope this video moves you as it has moved me.
"World Builder" was created by filmmaker Bruce Branit. It was shot in a single day followed by about 2 years of post production.

Take a sip o' this, Mayn!
A few weeks/months ago, I was on amazon searching for a book to buy for my boyfriend and one for myself. Expanding my library is one of my goals after graduating. I want to buy as much inspirational books possible. When I was still in school, that's what every professor would preach about and I definitely agree with them.
"Caffeine for the Creative Mind" is a book I saw at Barnes n Noble a few days ago.. It's pretty much for people who have a creative block going on. C'mon, it happens to the best of us. They have different exercises in there that help get your creative juices flowing with design, photography, writing, and even idea kindling. In the intro it talks about how you need to train your brain to think creatively as if you train your body to run a marathon. I never thought of creativity that way. I always thought that it was something you were born with or that came to people naturally. Although that is true to some extent, I do believe that exercising your brain will help a great deal as well. So, I bought it. And here I am blogging about it and recommending everyone to go out n purchase this book as well.
PS. I will try to update my blog with any exercises I do from here. :]
That is all.
Thank you for reading.
