I could use a nice spa treatment right about now!

Close your eyes, (not right now if you want to read the rest,) and imagine being in a spacious spa that has a bamboo plant in the corner of the room. Framed photographs of waterfalls and the beach take up some of the walls. You are wearing a white towel with nothing underneath. The smell of the massage oils fill the room as the soft massage music helps create total relaxation. There is a suddle waterfall sound in the background as you lay on the massage bed with your face resting on the hole they have thought so generously to create for comfort. A woman with soft and oily hands slowly rubs all your pains away, from your head to the tip of your toes. After you inhale the positive vibes, you exhale all your negative thoughts along with any aches you may have. You wake up feeling like a new person. (OK now you can open your eyes, i hope they werent really closed tho.) LOL
Who wouldn't love that? I'm not sure. This is what I was daydreaming about while working on this business card + postcard.

World Builder

I saw this video almost exactly a year ago. A classmate of mine showed it to me in my motion graphics class. It is an absolute breath of fresh air. The fact that someone can create something so magical fills me with inspiration and hope. It amazes me how some people can create such amazing art. Absolutely genius! I hope this video moves you as it has moved me.

"World Builder" was created by filmmaker Bruce Branit. It was shot in a single day followed by about 2 years of post production.

Take a sip o' this, Mayn!

A few weeks/months ago, I was on amazon searching for a book to buy for my boyfriend and one for myself. Expanding my library is one of my goals after graduating. I want to buy as much inspirational books possible. When I was still in school, that's what every professor would preach about and I definitely agree with them.

"Caffeine for the Creative Mind" is a book I saw at Barnes n Noble a few days ago.. It's pretty much for people who have a creative block going on. C'mon, it happens to the best of us. They have different exercises in there that help get your creative juices flowing with design, photography, writing, and even idea kindling. In the intro it talks about how you need to train your brain to think creatively as if you train your body to run a marathon. I never thought of creativity that way. I always thought that it was something you were born with or that came to people naturally. Although that is true to some extent, I do believe that exercising your brain will help a great deal as well. So, I bought it. And here I am blogging about it and recommending everyone to go out n purchase this book as well.

PS. I will try to update my blog with any exercises I do from here. :]
That is all.
Thank you for reading.

FFR flier

Tomorrow night, Feb. 25, Full Force Rising will be having a show at the Troubadour. They have not performed since April 2009. They are back, ready to rumble and put on a great show for all their fans!

This was a last minute flier that I created for the band to email out to the fans or post on facebook. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks :]]

Working on my siteness.

So, I had designed my graphic design portfolio website a few months ago, but quickly I was over it because I didn't know what to put in my homepage. I didn't want to write a full page bio nor post an image, so it was blank. BORING! Didn't really want to show it to anyone either. I finally figured out exactly how I want it to look. Also, I have a little help from a girl at my office who is gong to help me make it function exactly how I want it to look.

Aside from that, I just wanted to update ya'll of what's going on. Here is a little sneak peak of the new projects that will be in my portfolio.

This is a logo I had created for a Limousine company. I am very proud of this logo, given that the clients were very picky to begin with.

This next project was a business created for Joel the handyman.

Rah Rah!

Hello people of the internet.
I feel bad that I have not been updating my blog more frequently. My not so new, new years resolution is to post my stuff on here more than once every 2 months. Even though, I don't think anyone reads it... :/ Oh well!

So, here's what's new..

I got a job. YAY! LOL
Finally, right? It's at a company called "Krkyan" .. yeah, I had to put it in quotations. The business used to be called, LA City Businesses. So ya. I'm not sure what my position is officially called, but I will call myself the graphic designer. LOL. I pretty much work on designing business cards, brochures, postcards, logos, signs and banners for local businesses around North Hollywood area.
That is all.
So, yesterday while I was on my lunch break, I came across something that I see almost on a daily basis yet never really payed too much attention to. The garbage truck. Now, I know what you're thinking.. why is she blogging about garbage trucks? It is because, after the super bowl game, a show aired on CBS called Undercover BOSS. Thinking it was an interesting show, my boyfriend and I decided to watch it. Basically, the CEO or president of a company goes under cover to the front line of their business to get a first hand inside scoop and then later try to do something about it. I'm very glad we watched, because it was very entertaining. The premier episode was about Waste Management company, so you can imagine how many time I saw their logo throughout the show. Now, I came across this truck...

Without even thinking, I immediately thought about the show and Waste Management. However, this was Millennium Waste, Inc. Now, you may think.. so what's wrong with that? Here is the truck of Waste Management.. [which by the way I ran into both of them on my lunch break. lol]

I just found it really funny that the 2 logos are almost identical. One is a WM and the other MW. The colors of the truck are similar as well. So which came first, the chicken or the egg? LOL just kidding. :]~

Some action.

I landed an internship in November in downtown at a clothing company called Jenny Helene. I was hired as a graphic design intern. My boss, Johanne, is awesome and super nice!

I pretty much edit images of the photos that go on the website. Recently, I was assigned a project that I liked very much! I had to create a slideshow of about 5 images that are moving in one image. I used Photoshop CS3. The animation "tool" was something that I had heard about for creating banners for websites, but personally, I had never used it before. It was pretty much a very basic version of flash. As easy as the animation was to create, I had the hardest time of my life trying to save it. It took about 3 hours of my time. Later I found out that it was a very simple process. All I had to do was save for web and devices and choose the images only option. Ughh.. LOL

This was created to show a very brief introduction to the Spring collection and also the new location for the showroom. :]]
